ProCredit Bank has a regulation for the Management of Environmental Risks in the granting of credits. This regulation establishes the guidelines, processes and formats that should be applied in the environmental assessment of the economic activities of our current and future clients as follows:
Exclusion List: It consists of a list of negative activities that are applied as a filter to make sure that the business activities of the clients are not considered harmful to the environment or society. If it detects that the business activity is part of the exclusion list, the credit application is rejected.
Categorization: Consists of the classification of economic activity into three levels of Environmental Risk: low, medium or high. This classification is made considering that the environmental affectations depend on the productive activity of the clients.
Environmental and social assessment: According to the categorization of the Environmental Risk assigned to the economic activity, the evaluation formats are applied, those are designed to guide the Business Advisors in the identification and assessment of the environmental impacts of the companies that are visited. Likewise, an assessment is made of aspects related to the treatment of workers, with key points such as: membership in the IESS, overtime pay, health and occupational safety implementation, etc.
By incorporating environmental and social aspects into its credit assessment processes, Banco ProCredit seeks to raise the level of awareness of the environmental footprint generated by the business activities generated by both our clients and non-customers, encouraging them to take preventive and corrective measures.
